The best trade is happening next week: exchange a cucumber for a Hendrick’s cocktail during Hendrick’s Cucumber Currency Exchange.
There’s been a celebration day for everything lately. From World Environment Day earlier this week to National Onion Day later in June, the quirky and downright bizarre list is inexhaustible. Here’s a peculiar one for all you Hendrick’s Gin lovers — it’s National Cucumber Day happening on 14 June. Hendrick’s Gin is celebrating this long berry (you read that right, it’s not vegetable) by bringing back its Cucumber Currency Exchange from 10 – 13 June where G&T lovers or parched imbibers can exchange a cucumber for a delightfully delectable cocktail (made with Hendrick’s Gin, of course).
If you’re wondering why a Hendrick’s G&T is often garnished with slices of cucumber instead of lemon, that’s because it complements the rose and cucumber infusions within the gin, along with 11 other botanicals, including juniper, coriander, orange, lemon, angelic, orris root, cubeb berries, caraway seeds, chamomile, elderflower, and yarrow berries. During Cucumber Hours next Monday to Thursday from 530pm to midnight, swing by any of the 60 partner bars, including Smoke & Mirrors, Potatohead and Tipsy Tavern, to trade in a cucumber for a refreshing serve of Hendrick’s & Tonic.
While the classic Hendrick’s Gin is a timeless choice, you have the exclusive opportunity to select from two other limited edition releases from Hendrick’s Cabinet of Curiosities as your cocktail base. The latest from the unusual gin maker is the limited edition Hendrick’s Flora Adora, a creation by Master Distiller Lesley Gracie that captures the lush and vibrant floral notes of a blooming garden. Juniper and coriander form the foundations of this unique creation, which pairs exceptionally well with a cucumber garnished G&T. 2022’s Hendrick’s Neptunia, known for its unusual and complex smoothness, sees coastal flora enhancing the rose and cucumber notes of the Hendrick’s Gin, offering a different dimension to a G&T.
In the true spirit of inclusivity, all species of cucumbers, whether it’s a common garden cucumber or a rare heirloom variety, can be exchanged for a refreshing serving of Hendrick’s & Tonic. So, fret not if you forgot to stock a bag in the office refrigerator. Impeccably dressed cucumber connoisseurs will be roaming Singapore’s iconic bar districts as Raffles Green, Downtown Marina and Tanjong Pagar from 11am to 1pm over the four days, ready to offer a cucumber or two.
