Apple’s New iPad Air Is More Powerful Than Ever

Now equipped with the M3 chip, the new iPad Air is at least 2x faster than previous generations, making the portable workstation even more like a MacBook than before — especially with the new Magic Keyboard.

If you were already impressed with Apple’s current iPad Air, an affordable, lightweight option backed by a Mac-level speedy chip that inches the Air closer to a Pro, then you’re in for a treat with the brand’s latest announcement — a refreshed iPad Air with an M3 chip.

Apple’s New iPad Air Is More Powerful Than Ever

While the current generation powered by the M2 chip still stands against the test of time with its unparalleled high-performance capability — files open on them just as fast as they could on a MacBook — the new iPad Air with the M3 chip is a sign for those still holding onto their third, fourth and even fifth generation iPad Air to upgrade to a more powerful one.

And there is more to benefit with a faster processor. The M3 chip promises a performance improvement of 35% from the M1-backed generation. That’s 35% less time spent waiting on exporting projects on the already improved iPadOS 18, and 35% the chances of winning a game without lag or buffering. While we’ve yet to trial the improved capabilities of what the new iPad can truly offer, one thing we will never pass out on is a better processor (aka more longevity with your purchases).

Plus, those upgrading from older models can also benefit from a host of adjustments Apple has made, such as USB-C charging, A16 chips on all models, double the starting storage, and compatibility with Apple’s latest accessories for the iPad such as the Apple Pencil Pro — after all, what’s an iPad without its accessories?

Speaking of which, the announcement also included an all-new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, priced lower than before. There is an all-new 14-key function row (like the ones you’d find on MacBooks) that makes changing the volume and adjusting screen brightness easier than before (no more dragging of the controls on the screen).

The newly improved iPad Air is available at the same starting price of S$899 for the 11-inch and S$1,199 for the 13-inch. The new Magic Keyboard for iPad Air will set you back S$399 for the 11-inch and S$449 for the 13-inch. Pre-orders are now available.
