Grent Perez Reviews His EP "Conversations With The Moon"
Filipino singer and songwriter Grent Perez has done it again with his EP titled “Conversations To the Moon”, feeding us tunes to ease up with, songs to feel the feels, and most importantly, proving once again that music has the ability to touch hearts across the globe.

In conjunction with the release of his latest MV, here, Grent Perez reviews “Conversations To the Moon”.

Cherry Wine is about being a little bit playful on your night out. Trying to court someone you like by showing your ‘skills’ on the dance floor, dancing the night away, and even if things don’t go your way, at least you had a good time over some cherry wine.

This song was also heavily inspired by classic rom-coms with that almost fantasy-type love.

A Conversation With The Moon is the title track of the EP and the song I wrote to ask my partner to be my girlfriend though it wasn’t quite like it is now. This song portrays a back and forth conversation between a person and the moon (which can also be interpreted as their conscience).

While this person tries to desperately cover up the love for this girl that they just met, the moon keeps egging it on by telling them that if they love them then what are are waiting for?

My Heart It Beats For You is one of my personal favourites as it is one of the most relaxed yet bouncy ones. This song simply conveys the message that no matter where you are or what you do — not even with what the future holds — my heart is beating for you and this feeling only gets stronger with the passing of time.

I took a lot of inspiration from the works of Lionel Richie, Norah Jones, and Don Mclean.

Absence Of You can kinda be seen as the aftermath of a tough breakup or a realisation that you’re better off on your own. I like to think of it as finding beauty in the silence. This song also can be seen as trying to find acceptance that you’re gonna be okay or an attempt to reassure yourself that there’s a whole world out there for you.

Either way, things didn’t go to plan and we’re now simmering in the burning memories.

Clementine takes a more melancholy route as it carries a mixture of emotions that can be freely interpreted by the listener. There’s a feeling of sadness and hate throughout the song that also dances into the feeling of love; like a constant cycle of love and hardships.

This song refers a lot to the plot of the 2004 film, ‘Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind’, in that no matter how much you erase from your memories, you can’t help but fall in love.

This track is definitely another favourite of mine although belonging in the more upbeat category. Why I Love You plays around the thought of ‘perfect imperfections’: how someone could ruin all your plans be it a pain in the butt and or rain on a sunny day.

Yet those little things, are just part of the reason why you love them.
