Loki Theories to Consider Before Watching The Series Finale

Loki Theories to Consider Before Watching The Series Finale
With only one episode left to go, it’s time to assess all of the relevant Loki theories Marvel fans have been speculating about before the show’s much-anticipated finale.

If you’ve already caught up on all five episodes of the Loki series, you’ll understand why actor Tom Hiddleston himself loved episodes four and five the most. Episode five was nothing short of an intense and insane rollercoaster ride, and we are still not over what happens in it.

A Recap of Episode 5
In short, we discover the hidden timeline the TVA uses to discard their unwanted variants, get introduced to alternate universe Lokis (who — to no one’s surprise — betray each other), and uncover the world behind the Void, protected by Alioth: the smoke dragon entity that devours anything and everything in its path. As Sylvie and Loki take on the Void to find out who’s pulling the strings, Mobius heads back to the TVA using a TemPad Sylvie stole to — quote — “burn it to the ground.”

Creator Michael Waldron and director Kate Herron gave Marvel fans many easter eggs and references to past fan theories during the episode: many of which never got acknowledged until yesterday. Our favourite? Classic Loki proving that the popular Infinity War theory was, in fact, plausible.

Yes, we are talking about the “left-hand stab” theory that first came about in 2018 after Avengers: Infinity War premiered. In the film, Loki gets his neck snapped after attempting to stab Thanos with a knife using his left hand, shocking many fans as Loki would never do such a thing so willingly. For years, fans theorised that Infinity War Loki was actually an illusion of himself — mastered by the real Loki — who is very much alive.

It turns out that did happen —  in another universe and to Classic Loki: “I cast a projection of myself so real, even the mad titan [Thanos] believed it, then hid as inanimate debris.”

#Theory 1: What haven’t we seen?
One look at the main trailer and teasers of Loki, and you’ll realise that some scenes have yet to make it on the show, meaning that they will most likely appear in the finale of the series.

We finally get to meet King Loki in episode 6, but what is his role in the Void? If he is genuinely another version of Loki, then what makes him so unique from the rest of them? Is he being controlled, or is he, perhaps, the one behind the TVA’s shenanigans? Or best of all, is this a victorious Loki at the end of episode 6, who now rules over his own timeline?

There are stills of Loki walking down a cracking, purple hallway by himself. If we interpret this correctly, Loki is most likely separated from Sylvie as he explores the castle that we see beyond the Void in episode 5. It begs the question — where is Sylvie?

#Theory 2: Who is the true villain of the series?
There seems only to be one main suspect who is behind it all. According to the Internet and Marvel fans, all fingers point to long-time Avengers villain and time-traveler Kang The Conqueror. Now, this makes a lot of sense if you’ve been screening Loki for easter eggs and references to Marvel’s comics.

For starters, the castle we see beyond the Void could be Castle Limbo, Kang’s den. Not only that, the fearsome Alioth and the high and mighty Judge Ravonna Renslaye also have a solid connection to Kang in the comics.

The Qeng Enterprises building — a company, run by Kang out of the former Avengers Tower — is also introduced in the series, which further justifies the theory of Kang being the villain of Loki.

Finally, it has already been announced that Kang will be introduced in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where actor Jonathan Majors will play him. If this isn’t a prelude for the future of the MCU films, we don’t know what is.

What we hope to see
Ultimately, we hope that every character in the series gets to fulfil their “glorious purpose.” Wouldn’t it be great to see dynamic duo Sylvie and Loki ruling over their new timeline? Or Mobius and B-15 taking down the TVA together and going back to their previous lives? Most of all, we hope Mobius gets to be reunited with his jet ski when all of this is over.
