Not satisfied with being just a purveyor of fine Italian shoes and accessories, TOD’S initiated the No_Code project as a research and experimental space in November 2018. TOD’S No_Code has been providing visionaries, designers and creatives to express themselves freely and to imagine new projects that would interpret the contemporary and meet at the intersection of Italian artisanship and international cutting-edge technology. The latest object to be born is the photography book “Silicon Valley / No_Code Life” with images taken by Iranian-American photographer Ramak Fazel. Shot at the end of 2019 before the pandemic broke for around 10 days, the 128-image book hopes to demystify one of the most protected areas in the world — which also has another moniker “no place” with its lack of directional road signs — by documenting the inhabitants’ daily life outside of the tall glass doors of big technology firms. Get a copy today to carry out your own investigation on the birthplace of the personal computer — bearing the original DNA of Silicon Valley that intersects with TOD’S No_Code at craftsmanship/technology.

KEN’S WORLD

The companion of the world’s most famous fashion doll, Ken is celebrating his 60th anniversary this year and French luxury Maison, Berluti is joining in the jubilation. The collaboration sees the creation of three unique one of a kind Ken dolls which are individually modern, diverse and stylist — all dressed in Berluti x Brian Rochefort collection looks down to the braided calf leather Stellar sneakers. They are also travelling in style in the Berluti beach buggy manufactured by Hot Wheels in 2020. Two dedicated Berluti products have also been designed to mark the special collaboration — a T-shirt and a Nino clutch bearing Berluti’s and Ken’s interlaced logos. The three unique Ken dolls will be digitally auctioned in May and the proceeds will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which helps fulfil the wishes of children between 2 and 18 year-old with critical illnesses. KEY ELEMENT

Before Versace’s Greek Key made a splash across the Fall/Winter ’21 collection, it was first used in the Fall/Winter ’88 collection by Gianni Versace to celebrate the Italian luxury fashion House’s Magna Graecia (the coastal areas of Southern Italy extensively populated by Greek settlers) heritage. Symbolising infinity and unity, the Greek Key is a geometric pattern with sharp angles and clean lines created from one, uninterrupted line. For Spring/Summer ’21, the Greek Key appears in the new sneakers — Greca. A classic lace up design that comes in both high and low tops, the Greca features the Greek Key on the midsole and a Medusa on the outsole. Available in leather and cotton canvas across vibrant colours of red, blue and the Spring/Summer ’21 aquatic renditions of the Tresor De La Mer motif against sea pink and white — own a piece of modern heritage now on Versace.com and Versace stores.

MIAMI STYLE

Italian luxury Maison, Dolce&Gabbana famed for their extravagant fashion wear has collaborated with one of the world’s leading DJ and record produce, DJ Khaled — his hits include Wild Thoughts featuring Rihanna and POPSTAR featuring Drake — for a special capsule collection. The contemporary collection see Miami’s urban style colliding in a Mediterranean atmosphere to birth split-print jackets and pants sporting Mediterranean bougainvillea flowers and agave leaves — also endemic to the Southern Italy landscapes — interwoven with brightly-coloured murals and graffiti of the cosmopolitan city, sunny seashores of South Beach and the historic charm of the Downtown District. The lion is also a prominent print in the collection as it is a symbol of strength and pride dear to DJ Khaled — the ferocious beast was also featured on the cover of his “Major Key” album. Following the House’s expansion of its size range to Italian size 60 last year, the Dolce&Gabbana X DJ Khaled special capsule collection will also be offering the same

WELCOME SIGHT

The House of Dior has always prided themselves on the atelier’s savior faire and it has now extended to their eyewear. The new Dior eyewear are designed in the Dior studios in Paris — each pair first sketched according to meticulous, extremely detailed drawings — then brought to life in the LVMH Group’s eyewear expert, Thélios’s workshops in the Longarone region of Italy. Thélios was created in 2017, when LVMH entered the eyewear industry by joining forces with sector expert Marcolin and the name is a reference to Greek mythology: a combination of Theia, goddess of light and sight, and Helios, god of the sun. Thélios’s comprehensive, flexible manufacturing system ensures full control of every stage of production from design brief to design, prototyping and production through the focus on innovation and cutting-edge technologies. The results are Dior eyewear emblematic of a traditional heritage in timeless modernity as seen with the Summer ’21 collection of sunglasses.
