Happy Birthday Mr Porter! Since its advent in 2011, the online menswear retail site Mr. Porter has flourished into a top-tier award-winning global destination for men’s style. Now that it happens to be their Fifth Anniversary, the folks at Mr Porter aim to celebrate it big with everything from special collaborations of limited edition pieces with several famous brands to a large anniversary edition of their weekly online magazine The Journal. On 20 Feb they even celebrated an exclusive cocktail party at the Savile London Club. Let’s have a glance through what exactly they have to offer.
The Collection
Berluti, Boglioli, Lacoste, Drake’s and Maison Martin Magiela are among the nice names to contribute pieces to the Mr Porter Fifth Anniversary Set. Across the whole collection most of the pieces are done in grayscale, allowing you to mix and match them with ease. Calling up the ghosts of Chaplin and Churchill is also a bowler hat made by Lock & Co.
Need someone to help snap pictures of your snappy new appearance? Among the collection is one Fifth Anniversary Mr Porter Essential Leica camera. Topping it all off in case the camera flash gets too blinding are Sunglasses designed by Cutler & Gross.
The Car
Keen on looking beyond clothes for this special occasion, the BMW i3 Mr Porter Edition is a bespoke vehicle for the Fifth Anniversary resulting from a collaboration with BMW. Hitching off design choices from various types of menswear, the car is finished in a deep midnight blue in a nod to the tuxedo, and embellished with a white door rail. The interior is olive-leaf leather and dark oak.
Ever environmentally-conscious, the car runs on an electric motor that can be charged from a conventional socket with ease. Mr Porter, as well as BMW, promises that this ride is one that melds style and performance.
The Actor & The Magazine
The British Actor Douglas Booth is featured in the eight-feature long special issue of The Journal.
