Bell & Ross Gives a Double Dose of Retro to Its Third Generation Vintage Timepieces

  • By Yong Wei Jian

While the archetypal Bell & Ross watch takes the square form of cockpit instruments, the Vintage models capture the military aviation look by being classically round and resolutely retro.

Now in its third generation, the collection amps its old-school pilot watch aesthetic by applying the Heritage concept to its latest Black Steel pieces.

The distinctive feature of BR Heritage timepieces is that they are unified around a common characteristic: patina. The treatment is meant to give a vintage look and feel to the watches, linking them back to the key eras of aviation history.

For the new BR V2-92 and BR V2-94 Steel Heritage, the theme is once again accomplished by combining beige numerals and hands with black dials.

Like their Black Steel predecessors, both the three-hand and chronograph versions come in the redesigned case proportions of third generation Vintage watches, in polished and satin-finished steel. The pushers and crown are screw-down to reinforce the 100m water resistance, a 60-minute rotating bezel measures elapsed time, and an ultra-domed sapphire crystal enhances the retro spirit of the watches.

Both models come with either a rubber strap or steel bracelet affixed onto rounded lugs to sit comfortably on the wrist.
