GIVENCHY

The Givenchy gang look evolves this season in a collection that counterpoints sportswear silhouettes with luxurious fabrications. Bauhaus geometry, evident in the oversized white bands on pant pockets and shirt sleeves, is combined with basketball imagery in the form of abstract prints and patterns. Creative Director Riccardo Tisci throws out the snobbery associated with formalwear – pairing basketball patterned collegiate-type blousons with flannel trousers – and challenges our notions of sportswear by creating athletic-looking tank tops in black printed velvet and parkas with mink-lined hoods. Formal pants are emblazoned with oversized basketball prints, once again blurring the distinction between sportswear and formalwear. The chic and elegant end result underscores Tisci’s pure genius.
