Spring/Summer 2015 Trend Report: Striped Situation

  • By Men's Folio

We think it’s safe to say that stripes are the kind of print that never leaves the ready-to-wear runway, though its interesting to see how it’s reinterpreted as moods and seasons come and go. Stripes are big this spring, and we mean that in every sense of the word.

The print showed up in bold and, at times, bright forms, across major collections, particularly at Dior Homme, Giorgio Armani, Kenzo and Paul Smith. Gucci’s take on stripes was more to the nautical, paired with gold buttons, cruise colours and sailor patches, though the fully-striped suits did bring Tim Burton’s cult classic Beetlejuice (1988) to mind. Top-to-toe striped suits also showed up at Costume National and Ermenegildo Zegna, with the print being one of the focal points in Stefano Pilati’s dark, nomad-inspired collection.
