France’s formidable luxury conglomerate LVMH teams up with Korea’s YG Entertainment in a partnership that taps on the synergies between the two companies. The $80 million investment by LVHM’s private equity arm, L. Capital Asia, will help the South Korean entertainment giant expand its business into fashion and beauty.
With this partnership, YG Entertainment (home to popular K-Pop megastars BIGBANG, 2NE1 and PSY) will be able to tap on the expertise of the numerous fashion and beauty brands under the LVMH umbrella. With the know-how of the French luxury group and the celebrity marketing genius of YG Entertainment, this strategic tie-up looks set to reap handsome returns for the two giants.
LVMH’s collaboration with YG Entertainment comes as no surprise as its flagship brand Louis Vuitton has famously dressed BIGBANG’s G-Dragon for his solo studio album. YG entertainment has been expanding its fashion presence of late, opening pop-up stores carrying its NANO9ON fashion line in Galleria Department Store in Seoul as well as 10 Corso Como boutiques in Milan, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
