PRADA
Evidently Miucca Prada can do no wrong. Her vision, named Menacing Paradise, transformed the Via Fogazzaro show space, using contrasting vibrant murals painted on huge blocks of wall depicting an abstract urban façade drenched in tropical heat.
In her envisioned paradise, Mrs Prada conjured up chaos with clashes of shocking prints and colours on sweaters, bags and beautiful shirts in silk, portraying a relaxed fit and feel. All this was juxtaposed against outerwear consisting of roomy suits, executed in faint striped fabrics with longer silhouettes and cuffs folded two inches too short, and silk bomber jackets with drawstring shorts, all paired with high-cut trainers.
We have crash-landed into Dean and Dan Caten’s version of lost paradise in a dense jungle complete with an artificial waterfall resembling the set of Gilligan’s Island. On this happy island, the duo have contrasted a James Dean archetype against the brand’s signature campiness, having castaways clothed in easy trousers that are cut off raw above double-buckled leather boots. Boxy cotton shirts are worn under cropped safari or leather biker jackets or a hybrid of both, not forgetting their signature distressed denim jeans.
