Christie’s is set to open a brand new space in Hong Kong, at the 22nd floor of Alexandra House. Christened the “James Christie Room” after Christie’s founder, the state-of-the-art multi-purpose gallery boasts sweeping views of Victoria Harbour and has over 250 square metres of viewing rooms. Scheduled to launch on February 28, the James Christie Room will be capable of holding uniquely curated exhibitions, educational Art Forums, sponsored and charity events, private sales, and auctions of specialty categories.
The James Christie Room launches 30 years after Christie’s opened its small representative office in Hong Kong. To mark the occasion, Christie’s has organized a special exhibition showcasing “the Best of the Best” in a variety of collecting fields from the auction house’s forthcoming auctions in Hong Kong, London and New York, as well as works of art for private sale and those that are simply on exhibition. The exhibition includes highlights from Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art, Chinese Paintings, Chinese Ceramics & Works of Art, Jewellery, Watches, Post-War & Contemporary Art, Impressionist & Modern Art and more. The works will be shown until March 15.
