Pewter maker, Royal Selangor partnered with international design firm VW+BS to release a collection that takes inspiration from an extremely modern world. Using shapes, these items are able to create metallic landscapes across the table. For example, one can envision deserts just from a simple tray, while bowls easily form the contours of a mountain range.
“What interests us about this collaboration is that pewter is a traditional material often perceived as quite dowdy,” said Voon Wong of VW+BS. The company’s other founder, Benson Saw further comments, “Through these explorations, we understand, and learn about the constraints of, these materials and processes which then spur ideas for different projects.”
