Natural materials like linen sometimes come with an earthy fragrance that will never waver, even after months and years of wear. To craft the Eau de parfum, Christine Nagel, the House’s perfumer, encapsulates both the depth and breadth of forests in her design of the layers. Notes of sage, rosewood, narcissus and sclarene are shaken up in different proportions, but they come through in a warm way before immediately transforming into a scent of green that one would recognise from dry herbs.
Combined with the use of both natural and high-tech moss, the highly textural scent is comfortingly creamy, yet clearly breezy and reminisces the smell of fresh sheets. All while still being anchored by a rhubarb-esque woodiness — which creates a novel and elegant concoction that would sit quite well with the spirited modern man today.
Similarly, the refillable and chiselled glass bottle it comes in asserts clarity in the scent’s green presence, as well as is an expression of its lightness. Designed by Philippe Mouquet, the aerodynamic lines bring to mind momentum, while the moss green lacquer effortlessly furthers Nagel’s natural agenda — in a shade of green chosen by Véronique Nichanian for her collections.
Contrasted with the silver that also highlights a metallic sheen to the scent, there’s no doubt that the H24 Eau de parfum is made for the epicurean urban man whose desires include a deep-seated appreciation for Mother Earth.
