Sony Music Entertainment Japan has just announced the debut of Baby Mic Candy, a Japanese and Thai hip-hip trio with their new single “RUN”.
Where globalisation has become a part and parcel of our everyday lives, it is no surprise to see creatives hailing from various cultures and backgrounds joining forces to expound bright, multicoloured and hopeful art. One such example is Baby Mic Candy, a trio of hip-hop heads who sing, rap and look like they are ready to perform with the same exuberance as heard in their debut single, “RUN”.
Formerly members of a 10-member J-pop group that disbanded in 2019, Moto, Goli and Yuki came together after the pandemic period to meld their Japanese and Thai influences into a new project they could continue to express themselves with. After settling down in Thailand in May earlier this year, Baby Mic Candy was born — marking the beginning of a new energy-filled chapter these three music-lovers.

Just under two minutes, the uptempo, breakbeat-laden production champions positivity as the group sings in English, Japanese and Thai about charging forwards defiantly. The psychedelic lights and almost transcendental visual match this zealous attitude with the same vibrancy, triumphant in their return to the spotlight with new works to share, new bars to spit.
“It is a song that makes you feel close to us, with the thought of stepping forward together,” said group leader Goli via a press statement. “This song is the start of the BMC project, in which the members, representing Generation Z, will present the significance of their existence as artists in the country.”
‘RUN’ precedes an upcoming second single with a new group member, which will arrive later in October. Watch the music video for “RUN” here now.
