#MFMF110: Deputy Editor Asaph’s Rock Played Live Playlist

#MFMF110: Deputy Editor Asaph’s Rock Played Live PlaylistThere’s nothing quite like experiencing a rock concert, or any concerts, live. You feel the energy of the crowd and the magic in the air as musical talents not just play or sing, but perform. Rock remains one of my favourite genres which is why you’re getting these selections. Thankfully these are available on Spotify so you can stream their entire concert without having to search them up on YouTube (fancams are not the best). I still get goosebumps out of pure enjoyment whenever I hear these songs and I hope you experience that at least to a certain degree.

Metallica — S&M2

S&M2 is a follow-up to the S&M live album played together with the San Francisco Symphony. From the usual suspects such as Enter Sandman and Master of Puppets to outliers such as The Call of Ktulu or Moth in Flame, expect a harmonious blend of heavy metal and symphonics as Metallica belts out some of their biggest hits to the ecstasy of a live audience.

Muse — Live At Rome

What better way to experience Muse, winners of umpteen best live band awards, than in their natural habitat — sporting arenas and stadiums packed to the rafters. The Rome Olympic Stadium is the venue of recording as Matt Bellamy and gang belt out mind-blowing riffs and licks as part of The Unsustainable Tour in 2013.

Eric Clapton — Unplugged

To hear Eric Clapton play a full acoustic set in such an intimate setting is definitely one of the biggest dreams any Clapton fan can have. Old Love, My Father’s Eyes and Layla take the plaudits for me though every song is still a treat for me every now and then I listen to the album again.

Eagles — Hell Freeze Over

The first time I ever listened to the Eagles was their Hell Freezes Over live concert where I literally thought Hotel California was recorded that way. Oh boy, I was so wrong when I heard the original. Well the same happened when I heard Clapton’s acoustic version of Layla. There you go, two of my musical mix-ups were revealed. There’s more though. (laughs)
