Stuntin’, frontin’ and entertaining.
Here, MYRNE takes us through his act with Nathan Hartono: a live-remix of the latter’s single The Difference that now has a sick, house-like beat.
Hello MYRNE, how’s it going?
I’m doing great!
How did you end up remixing The Difference then?
It started as an idea for a ‘live version’ of The Difference, I went over to Nathan’s and just started throwing ideas around. The bulk of the song came about in around 30 minutes!
I guess you remixing The Difference is a reunion between you and Nathan; can you remember what it was like actually producing the track back then?
I clearly do. It was around July 2021 I believe, where I had just took a small break from making any music at all…. When we were working on ‘The Difference,’ both our ideas flowed pretty easily. It was a step different from what he would normally do so I had fun exploring the production parts of that.

What did you think the track needed then to be more celebratory?
Just a faster tempo, really! I also liked the sombre, melancholic chords in the original but I gave it a simpler, housier rework that was easier to dance to.
What’cha planning for your set with Nathan? What can we expect then?
Just a special version of the remix, performed live! It should be pretty crazy against Singapore’s skyline.
What’re you planning in 2022 then? Are you planning to do gigs overseas?
I’m really excited to tour again, but it’s been almost two years since I’ve seen my friends based overseas. I’ll probably be doing a bit of reconnecting and learning to travel again, and never will I complain about airline seats again.

Hypothetical question…what is…your…dream…rager of a party?
It’d be somewhere dark and scuffed, I’m thinking questionably-wired speakers strewn across a large warehouse. DJ table is ground level, it’s really really hot, everyone is having a good time, and we’re all taking turns behind the console till the morning.
