#ManCrushMonday — Krit Amnuaydechkorn Has a Fresh Take On a Valentino Trunk
The particular Valentino bag model Krit Amnuaydechkorn is carrying? It’s called the Valentino Garavani Rockstud Alcove.

What exactly is a trunk bag? Well firstly, in the context of this story, it’s a really stiff bag that opens up at the top and which measures smaller than a sheet of A4 paper. Because you know, who has that many things to carry nowadays. Secondly, it has to resemble a trunk itself: the somewhat long-forgotten artifact we used when we could travel. Thirdly, like we mentioned above, it has to be stiff. Almost unbendable or unmalleable no matter what one puts it through.

While some Houses do it in an iconic box leather (bonus: it patinas beautifully and cons: it scratches easily), the Valentino Garavani Rockstud Alcove that Krit Amnuaydechkorn is clutching above is done in a grainy calfskin instead. While it does not scratch as easily (unless you drop it on the floor, ding it with keys or for some odd reason, fling it out of a moving vehicle), its other modern properties includes three card slots, an inside open pocket and an adjustable and detachable strap.

Debuting at the Valentino Fall Winter 2021 show, the easiest solution to the reason why Pierpaolo Piccioli released a somewhat vintage-y style would be to say that the hankering for something vintage-y is real. But then again, perhaps, it harkens back to a practical nostalgia we have for bags of this make. The style of the ’20s-inflected bag was built to last in that particular era, requiring quite a forceful strength to damage. It could even weather through the wars of the following years with nary a scratch.

And if you’re a Gen Z-er reading this, you most likely want it because of its antique brass-finish hardware (sooo vintage, right?) and stud detailing (how else would people know its Valentino?). It’s available for you to cop online or in-stores today, fyi.
