Monkey Shoulder is Making Zoom Drinking Stealthy but Fun
In the grand scheme of things, you can technically participate in the act of day drinking on Zoom with ease. Several fanatics of the past-time (a friend, of course…) recommend filling a water bottle with Gin Tonic while the more hardcore ones shrug their shoulders and go “This tepid brown liquid? It’s just from an old bottle of Coke…” Unfortunately, if you’re not a bonafide mixologist or possess an ungodly amount of will, you’re probably getting drunk by the late afternoon (again…this is a story about a friend).

The Monkey Shoulder solution for Zoom drinking however is in the packaging and the solution. Firstly, this concept is called Zoomtails — four cocktails named after some of the worst tech terms that have emerged in the recent years (apparently, calling yourself a disruptor is so 2010 like Shutter Shades). Secondly, the packaging — it’s disguised like a can of hipster orange soda. Very low-key, bright coloured enough to distract and unless your boss wants you to go close up to the camera, will pass off as a harmless G-rated beverage.

While you can only order the Monkey Shoulder Zoomtails to start Zoom drinking from 16 August 2021 to 4 October 2021, the good people at the Scotch whisky brand are also doing a giveaway on Instagram from 2 August 2021. All you have to do is to go onto a Zoom call, wait for your most annoying colleague to say something and share the exact term.

Or you can head over to their microsite if you’re feeling particularly restless. A Mixcloud playlist pumps out some jungle inspired beats, there are some truly delicious cocktail recipes and Cards for Hilarity is up for you to play.

Truthfully, if you could take one thing home about Zoom drinking today, it’s our prerogative to remind you that the ABV for Monkey Shoulder is 40%. Take it like a champ, you deserve it.
