The Saint Laurent Night Train Campaign has Some Ideas for Happy Feet

  • By Bryan Goh

Frankly speaking, never have we once considered Saint Laurent as a “happy” brand. No less, their footwear. The Wyatt boots are made to stomp curbs, the Noah sandals are Summer’s fiercest footwear and the Timothees are for flexing your BDE. However, for the Saint Laurent Night Train campaign, Anthony Vacacrello has employed creative wunderkind Jean Paul Goude to make us consider the razzle dazzle of jazz shoes.

Technically speaking, the shoes featured in the Saint Laurent Night Train campaign are called the Teddy Derbies (a punk creeper meets gentlemen loafer of sorts), Dixon buckled boots (one part Bus Palladium and the other, Mick Jagger-esque) and the Le Loafer (a cooler take on the penny loafer) but you don’t need to be a Broadway thespian to put ’em on.

Any of these three styles have the spiffiness of a loafer, crispness of a sneaker and because you’re probably not used to wearing shoes anymore, the comfort and freedom level of a pair of sandals. In fact, if you’re still unconvinced, they look even better grittier.

You can wear them like the dancers in the Saint Laurent Night Train campaign for sure but if you’re considering inventing a whole new look around them, go ahead. This, is what we call happy feet.
