If you’ve hung around here long enough, you’d realise that we have dissected the blueprint of a bomber jacket down to a science. It’s subtle attitude (which in turn, means it has great versatility, duh) lies in three things. Its front zipper fastening, a lack of a collar and its knitted cuffs that are a nod to its military wear origins. How then has Valentino elevated this seemingly simple piece of fabric? The answer lies within the image of Lay Zhang above: it’s now rendered in a look-at-me lace body. All the better to wear with what you already own, like a humble white t-shirt and black tailored pants.
That to us, is the genius of Pierpaolo Piccioli — how he makes everything infinitely cooler and of the now. The last we checked however, said jacket Lay Zhang is wearing isn’t available on Valentino’s site but there are 58 other versions for you to go crazy on.
