The Clarks Chinese New Year Collection Gets Red Right
The category for Chinese New Year this year is the ox. Also known as one of the least appealing animals to splash on to a piece of clothing, shoe or bag (snakes are infinitely cooler!!!). But British shoe label Clarks has something else in mind with their tribute: take the qualities of the ox — hardwork, honesty and earnestness — and recognise that it’s in line with their branding. Then, take the chinese character for it and create a subtle leather pull-tab. There, done.

Functional and colourful enough to avoid the disapproval of your staunch family members and fashionable enough for the remainder of the year.

Pictured above: The TriStreet Walk from the Clarks Chinese New Year collection is for both genders, comes in a luxurious leather and suede upper and of course, is made for all kinds of terrain. The Trigenic flex grooves has extra flexibility and the recycled laces and skate mesh are a nod to the British house’s sustainability in design.

The Tristreet Walk also comes in a low-cut version: kind of reminiscent of Chinese architecture.

The Citistride Lace from the Clarks Chinese New Year collection is a men’s brogue that has an iridescent petrol-esque hue on its patent leather uppers. If that’s too tech-y for you, it means all you can practice a little less care with them. Just swipe it clean with a non-scented wet wipe.

If you don’t mind reading more tech, its combined leather and TPU outsole offers great grip and durability. Its Cushion Plus technology even gets better the more you wear into ’em.

The Clarks Chinese New Year collection is now available here.
