It’s Time to Wear Skittles on The Wrist

  • By Asaph Low

For the month of December and January 2021, you might notice that we have changed the way we are presenting things on our site. While we could have taken the easy way out and presented generic festive stories with generic festive ideas — top 10 shoes to party in, the best log cakes that are available for delivery and festive hampers to gift friends and family — at Men’s Folio, we believe in ideas that are as functional as they are frivolous, as smart as they are easy to wing and as enriching to you as they will be to the people around you. In short, we want to be as useful as possible because #aintnobodygottime.

Hence, we’ll be presenting 60 very useful ideas for the festive season and into the 365 days to come for the next 60 days. Here is idea five, wearing skittles on your wrist or in other words, picking a colourful watch to brighten up your days.

Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Ultraviolet

Though the El Primero calibre existed 50 years ago, Zenith is one of the most contemporary watchmakers who focuses on chronographs. Clad entirely in a matte titanium case, the Zenith Defy El Primero 21 Ultraviolet reveals its striking violet chronograph components through the skeleton dial. Named after the high-frequency light source, its namesake is befitting the high-frequency El Primero chronograph calibre capable of timing events to within 1/100th of a second.

TAG Heuer Aquaracer Bamford Limited Edition

TAG Heuer presents an alternate take on the sporty Aquaracer as it collaborated with renowned customiser Bamford Watch Department for the 1500-strong limited edition timepiece. Orange accents on the bezel pip, flange and watch hands greet its wearer against the grey-sheened case and bracelet— a characteristic of the grade 2 titanium used. Staying true to the diving exploits of the Aquaracer, the Aquaracer Bamford Limited Edition is rated to 300m water resistance and is powered by Calibre 5 movement.

Rado True Thinline Les Couleurs Le Corbusier

Rado’s True Thinline Les Couleurs Le Corbusier embodies the spirit of late design legend Le Corbusier with a shade of restrained green and a hint of blue. The unique shade — known as Slightly Greyed English Green — is one of the 63 colours found in the designer’s Architectural Polychromy used for architectural colour design. Ceramic is the material choice for the watch case and bracelet given its inert nature to ultraviolet rays — meaning the glorious colour does not fade and lose its lustre.

Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale

Drawing inspiration from its archive books, the Longines Heritage Military Marine Nationale takes aesthetic cues from the Longines 5774 watch that served the crew of the French Navy in 1947. The gold opaline dial stands out with its subtle graining and browned numeral plots for a weathered effect. A pair of cognac leather straps complements the package reminiscent of vintage military watches.

Apple Watch Hermès Series 6

A brand new chapter of the iconic collaboration between Apple and Hermès sees a union of heritage and innovation. The debut of Hermès’ vibrant coloured straps — made in its famed tanneries — transforms the timepiece into a centrepiece on the wrist. A new pair of lugs is created, mimicking the ones of the famed Hermès Arceau to highlight the elegance of the orange swift Attelage Double Tour strap.
