The democratisation of fashion has given sneakers a chance to thrive past the gym – red carpets, boardrooms, and offices are some of the places sneakers did not belong to a decade ago. Fast forward to the present, sneakers have vigorously invaded shoe cabinets and workplaces.

Reuters valued the global sneaker industry at US$202.4 billion and is expected to hit US$269 billion by 2025. At one point, American footwear brand Skechers managed to overtake Adidas to occupy the number two spot in the US footwear market. With such a reach, some Skechers sneakers iterations can be said to have contributed to the resurgent of the “dad shoe” trend.

Mark Nason, executive vice president of Skechers, launched his eponymous collection within the Skechers family of brands in 2000 with an aim to expose everyone to the creativity within the Skechers brand. Nason placed a strong emphasis on the use of premium materials sourced from Italy, as well as displayed an intricate eye for detail for his collections. Armed with Nason’s pedigree and the Mark Nason X Skechers collections, Skechers sought to exert itself as a player to be reckoned with in the global sneaker market.

The Mark Nason X Skechers Fall/Winter ‘19 collection launches with the utilisation of premium materials and attention to detail. From dress shoes to sneakers, the collection exudes effortless style and versatility for the modern man.

The standout goes to the BLOCK sneaker, whose name is derived from the prominent black, sculpted block midsole design. The sneaker boasts tonal suede in olive and forest green on the mudguard and uppers, paired alongside black mesh overlays on the vamp, tongue, and heel counter.

The BLOCK’s military-inspired woodland shades and rugged vibes are balanced with a neutral white midsole. Finished with a pair of trendy rope shoelaces and Mark Nason’s logo proudly emblazoned on the side panel, the BLOCK sneakers deserve every bit of attention from onlookers.

Factors such as breathability and comfort come into consideration for choosing the ideal sneakers to pound the pavements along Orchard Road in tropical Singapore, especially with the recent bouts of heatwaves paired with stuffy levels of humidity.

The suede and mesh combination of the BLOCK sneakers are not only stylish accents but is also breathable. Not forgetting the shock-absorbent midsole, the Mark Nason X Skechers BLOCK sneaker screams comfort for a stroll or even an invigorating jog in our concrete jungle.

The Mark Nason Fall/Winter 2019 collection, including the BLOCK, can be found in the newest Mark Nason X Skechers concept store in VivoCity, its third after opening its first-ever concept store in Bugis Junction.
