Culture Mondays: Growing Painlessly

  • By Marcus Li

The growth of anything is the most difficult in the beginning; babies need tender care and attention until they can fend for themselves and personal growth is the most tedious, after all putting in 10,000 hours is needed to excel at something. One can even grow to the size of a sumo if one is inclined to with these restaurants. What is important is not to let time and effort put one off from doing something, as enjoying the fruits of labour after are the sweetest. This week Men’s Folio will be sharing some sick growth gold as encouragement for people that are currently in the midst of growing.

Keep that hair growing

Hair loss is a huge problem for Men – one day, one is sporting a sick undercut quiff and the next a buzz cut to shave (pun intended) yourself from a bad hair day. It can be prevented however, much like how facial masks can provide longevity in appearance.

Watch it grow

Time and tide waits for no man and if saving time is not as important as growing old together with time, our selection of bronze watches later this week will definitely catch one’s fancy.

Items to grow old with

Fashion is often times fickle, as Hedi Klum famously puts it, “one day you’re in, the next day you’re out”. Luckily for fashion, there are still items that gain characteristics over time and after numerous wears. Take Calvin Klein Jeans‘s latest Fall/Winter’18 Collection for example; smartly-branded alongside the new youths of America, a physical growing into each wearer and through them, culture itself.

Songs that keeps you growing

Last #MFMF, we touched on shaving off hair. Think of it as an imagery as only through destruction can life begin anew. This week, we provide songs for one to listen to as one toils the soil to create fertile soil.
