#MFMF12: Sharing Our Sins

  • By Khoo Yong Hao

With the seven cardinal sins as our theme for the October issue of Men’s Folio, this week’s #MFMF follows suit. From rappers flaunting it all, to rock tunes that rile you up, get ready for a vice-filled weekend as we present to the top hits following the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins. Pick your poison.

LUST: Lust / Lil Skies

20 year-old Kimetrius Foose aka Lil Skies sets the tone for our list with an upbeat song about disregarding work ethics to let sexual inhibitions take over. In a perfect embodiment of lust, Detective Skies gets entranced by an attractive crook, then hits the strip club for some raunchy action in order to get his mind off his misconduct (not that it actually matters).

GLUTTONY: Thirsty / The Sam Willows

With a title serving as a smutty double entendre, Singapore born-and-bred The Sam Willows croons about being so intoxicated by the very presence of that special someone, that one becomes tongue-tied with a rasp in their voice. Hit a little too close to home?

SLOTH: OTW / Khalid ft. 6LACK, Ty Dolla $ign

The classic “OTW”. Often misused by procrastinators to give their friends a false sense of security, this ambiguous abbreviation can mean anything between being within actual walking distance of the rendezvous point, or still in the bathroom, hours away from getting ready. The chill vibes and slow tempo of Khalid’s “OTW” fit this state of laziness perfectly. As he sings about his willingness to be at the beck and call of his significant other, we firmly beg to differ – our bums are strictly glued to our comfy beds.

WRATH: Natural / Imagine Dragons

In this dog-eat-dog world where survival of the fittest is a constant battle, things can get rough and bring out the worst in people. But it can also bring out their best. Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds sings about how one must be tough to survive in this unforgiving world of ours. At the end of it, we guarantee you will feel ready to take on anyone.

GREED/ENVY: Stole Your Car / Charlotte Lawrence

Ever felt so envious of your significant other that you steal their awesome ride (because, you know, they don’t reciprocate the unconditional love you give them)? Neither have us, but Charlotte Lawrence once fathomed this idea of getting back at her lover by stealing his car. As they say, all is fair in love and war.

PRIDE: New Patek / Lil Uzi Vert

If the title didn’t already give it away, this one’s about flexing. Lil Uzi Vert’s “New Patek” flaunts his immense wealth, namedropping designer brands as if that’s all he wears. Scratch that, they probably are. Patek Philippe, Franck Muller, Rick Owens, Burberry, MCM, Saint Laurent are just a few brands he references, showing off his seemingly limitless disposable income that one could only dream of possessing.
