The multi-hyphenates strike again. Following his exit from Balenciaga, Alexander Wang shifts his focus back onto his eponymous brand, and takes the reins as CEO and Chairman – while still remaining as Creative Director. We know, overachievers.
A move like this cannot be devoid of a discussion on the current designer musical chairs syndrome prevalent in the industry. With designers exiting their positions – only to be shortly replaced by another – and Creative Directors adopting double duty as CEOs (we’re looking at you, Christopher Bailey), this comes as no shock to us. And in the wake of changes in the Alexander Wang label, position shuffling is bound to happen, obviously.
