Announced today were the plans for closure of Dior Homme’s Creative Director, Kris Van Assche’s eponymous label.
Van Assche’s brand and style championed the luxury streetwear movement that has become a signature for many younger brands like Public School. The designer was also known for the upscale, conceptual sneakers put forth by his label.
While the closure may come as a surprise given that Van Assche opened a showroom in Paris less than two years ago, and has been actively collaborating with Adidas and Union Los Angeles, the designer cited a greater focus towards his role in Dior as a reason for ending the label.
In an interview with WWD, Assche laments that times are tough for independent labels.”This wonderful adventure has reached a point where I feel the need to take a break and some distance to better think about how to develop my brand in the future.”
The brand will also not be producing or delivering orders from their Fall/Winter 2015-16 collection.
