The Smart Bike: M55 Terminus

  • By Men's Folio

Whether you’re powering through the highways of our little island or making your way across challenging dirt roads halfway around the world, you’ll want to give the M55 Terminus a go. Hailing from Urom, an artisanal bicycle workshop in Budapest, this electric bike is anything but a glorified scooter. Yes, it has a motor powered by lithium-ion cells built into its CNC-milled aluminium frame (giving it a range of almost 100km), but thanks to a rotation sensor, it only provides assistance when it feels your legs need a little help. So when you move off an easy, flat track to a craggy upslope, the transition is smooth and you’ll still feel like you’re doing the work, albeit with a boost of mutant like superpower seemingly flowing through your calves and thighs when the going gets tough.
