If you have what it takes to become one of the latest, greatest and freshest names in the regional fashion industry, this is your opportunity.
The annual search for Men’s Folio’s ‘Designer of the Year’ is back. In line with the magazine’s creed for being the authority in men’s fashion and luxury, we aim to discover Asia’s aspiring and most promising young menswear designers to promote and nurture by providing a platform for them to showcase their works at the event’s Awards Night, held in Singapore in October 2015. The overall winner will stand to win $10,000 worth of cash and prizes.
Submissions are officially open, and here is how you can compete to become the next Designer of the Year. Do read the guidlines carefully.
Entrants must be aged from 18 to 35. Contestants will be required to submit 3 sketches of original menswear looks, never before showcased to the public, complete with footwear and accessories, along with a mood board of the inspiration behind each looks via email to [email protected]/* */. Each submission must include the following: your full name (and alias if any), age and contact details, your CV/resume and a profile picture. Submissions will be closed on the 14 September 2015, 2015, 6 p.m. Shortlisted contestants will have to physically create 2 out of 3 of their submitted looks for the runway showcase.
Contestants will have to comply with the following conditions:
Entrants must be able to attend the Awards Night event, and be responsible for their own transport and accommodation in Singapore, unless otherwise advised. Entrants must be able to arrange for their 2 complete outfits to be delivered to the Heart Media office at Haw Par Glass Tower, 178 Clemenceau Avenue, #03-00, Singapore 239926 by no later than 5 p.m. on the 21st of October 2015. Decisions made by the selection panel are final. No objections will be entertained. Submissions must be original, and never before shown in public (i.e. at any event, exhibition, retail outlet and public places). Entrants must not be a member of the teaching staff of any school or organisation that teaches any subject relating to Fashion. Entrants must not have full nor partial ownership of any previously established, nor existing fashion brand or label
From the entries, 10 shortlisted finalists will be selected to showcase 2 out of their 3 submissions at the Awards Night, after which the winner will be selected by the judging panel. The confirmed shortlist will be announced online on the 21 September 2015, and the finalists will have their sketches featured in the September 2015 issues of Men’s Folio Singapore, Men’s Folio Malaysia and Men’s Folio Indonesia.
