Art, the allure of jetsetting and a tinge of local flair come together at the Rimowa x Art exhibition, held at the premium label’s Madarin Gallery store from the 26th of June to the 30th of July.
With 117 years of being a leader for innovative luggage craftsmanship, German-based Rimowa aims to initiate their global customisation movement in Singapore through the Rimowa x Art initiative, where 12 local figures were tasked to capture their feelings towards Singapore’s 50th birthday on the celebrated Topas Multiwheel series.
Six local personalities – namely Rosalyn Lee, Geoff Ang, Kevin Seah, Keith Png, Leon Foo and Willabelle Ong, as well as six up-and-coming creative individuals unveiled their personal designs, ranging from delightfully graphic, cheekily patriotic to the glamorous and understated.
The Topas Multiwheel remains one of Rimowas’s most popular ranges. Its sturdy exterior construction is made from the durable alloy of magnesium and aluminum, featuring grooves which take inspiration from pioneering aircrafts. Coupled with unique designs by the Rimowa x Art participants, the classic luggage receives a vibrant facelift that is sure to impress.
The exhibition will be open to the public. Interested participants can purchase the designs for S$5,000 each. All proceeds will be directed towards a philanthropic cause, supporting a local humanitarian Non-Governmental Organisation, Mercy Relief, which provides disaster relief and sustainable development programmes for the distressed, disadvantaged and destitute communities in Asia.
