Mention the name Lin Dan and numerous accolades will come to mind. Born in Fujian Province in Southeast China, Lin Dan entered the world of competitive badminton at the tender age of five. By 18, his prodigal talents brought him to the heights of becoming a national badminton player. Having won the prestigious “Super Grand Slam” twice, he placed first in the nine most highly-regarded international tournaments, earning him the moniker of the World’s greatest shuttler.
In the latest D&G visual campaign, Lin Dan ditched his sportswear in favour of haute couture as he fronts his very own picture book in a whole new light. Whether the portraits are set in the tailor’s studio, in a restaurant or in a sumptuously furnished home, Domenico Dolce’s eye brings out the distinctiveness of Lin Dan’s style, transforming him into a new icon of masculinity. D&G charts new heights as these images create an unexpected dialogue between the two apparently distinct worlds of fashion and sport.
The hard-bound picturebook will be available in stores at US$75 a copy. Three images have also been chosen to grace three limited edition t-shirts, available in all D&G boutiques in China from mid-March.
