Giorgio Armani continues to meld sports and luxury with a new edition of RUN sneakers. Introduced in the second half of 2014, the RUN project brings together Giorgio Armani’s signature refined aesthetic with a passion for technology. Not just pretty to look at, the soles of the RUN sneakers are designed to perform like actual running shoes, complete with rubber midsoles for lightweight cushioning, a heel stabiliser to absorb shock and grooves patterned to enhance the shoe’s inflection points.
Of course, just because it’s functional doesn’t mean that it can be luxurious. In contrast to the hi-tech look and construction of the sole, the upper is a combination of fine hides, colours and materials, forming a graphically striking mix. The design of the shoe is in no way over-the-top, which makes sense for a pair of trainers that actually allow you to train. Its luxury factor is of the subtle and quiet kind, with materials ranging from pony skin and crocodile to suede and patent leather. Sneakers from the RUN 2015 range are also made entirely in Italy, so that Italian brand of artisanal knowledge is guaranteed.
