Defining the vodka culture over the years with its distinctive look and taste, Absolut Vodka continues to impress with its latest high-end vodka, Absolut Elyx. Crafted from single estate wheat, it is manually distilled in a 1921 still consisting of columns, pumps, and pipes made of solid copper. The copper catalyses trace compounds in the spirits, purifies the vodka, and helps add a luxurious texture and taste to the finished product.
The single estate wheat is sourced from Rabelof Castle in Southern Sweden (which yields in greater consistency in terms of the quality of wheat used) and the entire process is done within a 15-mile radius of the distillery to ensure the vodka’s quality. “Only a few people have the skills and knowledge to operate our old copper still. Every handle, knob and lever is adjusted manually. Creating a vodka this way is very time-consuming, but when you taste Absolut Elyx, you know it’s worth the effort,” explains master distiller, Krister Asplund.
With a much more labour intensive and ‘handcrafted’ process involved in producing Absolut Elyx, the result is an elegant and well-rounded aromatic vodka that gives a silky mouth feel, luxuriously soft taste, and a clean finish.
