Art Republik Releases Futureart Issue Four

SINGAPORE, 15 October 2014 — #FUTUREART — Issue Four of ART REPUBLIK, Asia’s ultimate arts title.

The fourth edition of Art Republik delivers a punch with the inevitable topic of art in the future.

“While the future of art may ultimately be uncertain, one can probably guess where it is heading by taking a keen look at the present,” says Marc Wong, Managing Editor of ART REPUBLIK, “and from where I’m standing, art in the future is formless, functional, and out of this world (both figuratively and literally). The line between genius and madness draws thin this quarter.”

Issue four of Art Republik comprises stories on the use of light as an art medium with Haroon Mirza, and the increasing prominence of video art with Bill Viola. We also discuss street art becoming more legitimate and recognised as an art form, as well as the positive and negative views towards the artist assistant. And to go another step further (or higher), we have a feature on artists whose works literally take to the stars.

The issue also ventures into the rising and daring art scene that is Bangladesh; we’ve penned down must-sees in a condensed art travel guide to 72 hours in Jogja, Indonesia; we speak to Mr Meng-Yang Dong, the founder of the incredible Art Beijing; and we also pick the minds of notable art collectors Tom Tandio, Emma Cherian, and Ryan Su and Adrian Chan about their collection and how they got started.

Managing Editor Marc Wong adds, “I just want to say thank you to all our readers, supporters, contributors, and an enormous welcome to all who are, for the first time, stepping into this world of madness, creativity, eternal sunshine and prolonged darkness, a world where there is no limit to expression, no idea too small or too large, into this world we call art. It’s been an incredible first year and all I can promise you is that year two will be even greater, crazier, and more spectacular, so prepare yourselves.”

Mr. Olivier Burlot, CEO & Publisher at Heart Media, comments: “Filling in a gap on the art publishing scene, ART REPUBLIK has been a major success from its debut issue. With an increasing number of art collectors, art events and galleries, the Asian art scene is vibrant, diverse and happening. Headquartered in Singapore, ART REPUBLIK is the new voice for the arts across Asia as well as helping to promote art galleries from Europe, the US and Australia to an audience of Asian-based art lovers and art buyers”.

ART REPUBLIK is an official media partner of ART STAGE, AFFORDABLE ART FAIR, MILAN IMAGE ART & DESIGN FAIR, SINGAPORE ART FAIR, SHANGHAI BUND CLASSIC and ART TAIPEI.
