Y-3

There’s no spandex, latex or skin-tight leather when Y-3 does superhero. Instead, creative director Yohji Yamamoto reveals a gamut of sports and tailored wear that played with proportion, in a nod to 1960s couturiers. Striped hoodies stretched long, gym shorts billowed into sarouel pants, and blanket-poncho-capes whooshed with dramatic effect. There were eye-catching primaries for showstoppers, classic Yamamoto black for night prowlers. Manga illustrations depict comic dystopia. A track jacket comes with a built-in backpack – the utility belt of the bunch. If you’re ever in the market for some athletic vigilantism, these modular outfits are perfect for the modern-day Kick-Ass.
