Yves Carcelle, Louis Vuitton’s head and visionnaire for more than two decades, has died at the age of 66.
Yves Carcelle, who led Louis Vuitton from 1989 to 2012, has had one of the longest and most successful careers in the luxury industry. Besides transforming the wholesale leather goods brand into a globally integrated retailer, he had made Louis Vuitton an undisputed worldwide leader in this category.
Yves Carcelle joined Louis Vuitton’s parent company, LVMH in 1989 as Strategic Director. He was then Chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton from 1990 to 2012, Vice-President of the Fondation d’Entreprise Louis Vuitton pour la Création and a member of the LVMH Executive Committee. A board member of the Comité Colbert and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, he was awarded Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor and an Honorary Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Yves Carcelle led Louis Vuitton’s sponsorship and involvement in the America’s Cup from the front, as a long time supporter and backer of the Louis Vuitton Cup and the Challenger Series for the America’s Cup.
Yves Carcelle had also placed emphasis on building close relationships with all the team members and key players he collaborated with, and his personal touch and backing as keynotes of Louis Vuitton’s support in every projects undertaken were evident through the years.
