Z Zegna
Z Zegna’s Fall 2014 is a study in mod subculture, the “fashion-obsessed and hedonistic cult of the hyper-cool”. Heavy bangs, slim-cut suits and black turtlenecks were abound, but Paul Surridge’s collection was more than just a re-enactment of the 1960s. Instead, he adopted the narcissistic and fastidious tendencies of mod dressing and updated it with four-buttoned jackets and cropped trousers cuffed high. Sleeve garters evoke the feeling of old speakeasies, while big coats and knits in pop tonal stripes added a youthful contrast.
