There’s a witty Swedish proverb that says “A life without love is like a year without summer”. The warmest time of the year is undoubtedly one of the most passionate seasons and passion, safe to say, courses deeply in the creative veins of iconic Italian luxury house Versace. This summer, creative director Donatella Versace is feeling fired up over the athletic form. Her admiration for the mental and physical tenacity of professional sportsmen is translated in the sportswear-inspired details – athletic ribbed cuff pants, elbow-length sleeves and zesty, brightly-coloured prints that resemble colourful sports tape used by professional athletes – that pepper her menswear collection. Silhouettes are either cut close to the body to accentuate the physique or deliberately cut voluminous to exaggerate the upper torso whilst accessories like tote bags are fashioned from technical nylon fabrics. And let’s not forget the stunning leather pieces. Embellished with decorative gold studs like the one you see on the cover of this issue, they are clearly made to be worn by winners!
