Luxury hotel, Shangri-La is slated to open their latest residence on May 6 at the Shard, boasting killer views from London’s tallest skyscraper. Deemed the first high-rise hotel, Shangri-La will occupy level 34 to 52 of the 72-story Shard. Fret not if the thought of scaling this behemoth tower stops you from booking a night – guests will have access to a high-speed elevator from the hotel’s entrance along St. Thomas Street, bringing them to the lobby on level 35.
Shangri-La at the Shard will have 202 rooms and suits. Besides marble-clad bathrooms, every unit will have heated floors and even Acqua di Parman amenities. Pay a little more and your bathroom will have a floor-to-ceiling city view right next to your bathtub.
Come September, the hotel will unveil three signature suites, one of which is the Shangri-La suite which will come with a 180-degrere view of the Palace of Westminster, Big Ben, the Tower of London and River Thames.
At the highest level is the GŎNG bar (opening 1 July 2014) and the hotel’s 24-hour gym. Special mention goes to the latter which has London’s highest infinity pool
Level 52 will also be home to a 24-hour gym and London’s highest infinity pool, and along with GŎNG, level 52 will open from 1 July.
Rates start from £450 per night. Bookings for rooms, restaurants and events will be available from March 17.
