Affordable Art Fair Singapore sets new benchmarks to deliver an exciting fourth year!

Save the date for Singapore’s Affordable Art Fair showcasing over 95 galleries across four days

19 August 2013: Affordable Art Fair looks set for another record year! The fair, which is returning for its fourth year here in Singapore, will present over 95 galleries from all over the world in a 5,000 square metre space at the F1 Pit Building at 1 Republic Boulevard from 21 – 24 November 2013. The growth from 86 galleries and 4000 square metres in 2012 reflects the fair’s integral role in the booming Singapore art scene.

With the aim of making contemporary art accessible to everyone, the Affordable Art Fair will showcase a diverse selection of contemporary artworks, across a variety of styles from abstract to figurative, and mediums including paintings, sculpture and photography, all between S$100 to S$10,000, with 75 per cent of the works priced under S$7,500. An Under S$1000 Wall will present a selection of artworks that are below SG$1000, so visitors can easily pick out a piece of art they like that fits their purse strings.

Works by celebrated international artists including Anish Kapoor and Marc Quinn will be on show alongside Singapore’s established names such as Ong Kim Seng and Boo Sze Yang, and rising stars such as Aaron Gan and Henry Lee.

With a great variety of artists on show, art and photography lovers, art novices and experienced art collectors, will once again have the opportunity to savour a broad array of contemporary artwork amidst an environment that is friendly and fun, while delivering an ease of art buying at Singapore’s Affordable Art Fair 2013.

Accompanying the event is a flurry of fun and educational features for all the family including the Young Talent Programme 2013, in collaboration with ION Art, art talks from renowned experts at Art Equity and a Children’s Art Studio run by Art Boot Camp, offering a full schedule of activities for children aged 4 to 12.

Following its launch last year, the Young Talent Programme 2013 feature continues to be a platform for emerging artists under the age of 35 to build their experience, whilst providing a focal point for contemporary art dealers and collectors to access fresh work from the region.

Visitors to the Affordable Art Fair will be able to unwind and recharge at our Restaurant, Bar and Café, and Lounge where Foodology Catering Services will be offering delicious food and drinks. “This year’s fair shows not only the success of the Affordable Art Fair Singapore but also underscores Singapore’s position as a key arts hub, a credible player in the region and the public’s overwhelmingly positive response to that,” says Camilla Hewitson, Affordable Art Fair Singapore’s Fair Director.

“The fair continues to grow each year, each time enhancing the experience with added initiatives, a larger space to accommodate the growing number of visitors, and more galleries to feed the demand for art.” she added.

DBS Bank is the regional lead sponsor of the Affordable Art Fair in Singapore and Hong Kong for the next three years. “In recent years, we have seen an increasing interest in the arts and culture among our clients. As part of DBS’ commitment to be a leading wealth manager in Asia, we are always looking for unique sponsorship platforms that aim to engage, enrich and educate,” says Koh Kar Siong, Regional Head of DBS Treasures and Treasures Private Client, DBS Bank.

Young Talent Programme 2012 Winners’ Artwork Unveil at ION Art Gallery

Artwork of winners from the 2012 edition of the Young Talent Programme will be unveiled this year at the Young Talent Programme 2012/13 Winners’ Solo Exhibitions at ION Art Gallery, from September 4 to 24 September 2013.

Synonymous with ION Art’s dedicated focus on bringing quality art to the community and supporting emerging talent, the programme will exhibit the solo showcases of the three winners.

Aspiring artists Alecia Neo, Lavender Chang and Vellachi Ganesan were on a nine-month consultative programme supported by ION Art, working closely with programme curator Seah Tzi-Yan to guide their artistic practice.

“The Young Talent Programme documents a journey of discovery for these exciting new artists and gives them a platform to build their repertoire of skills as they are introduced to the artloving public. ION Art is proud to have been a part of their journey that has led them to this momentous event in an initiative positioned to be one of the most significant platforms for emerging artists in South East Asia,” said Ms Jasmine Chua, Director, Retail Management, ION Orchard.
