As we all know now, the two renowned brands have teamed up to hand-paint two of Converse’s classic designs – the Chuck Taylor All Star Hi and Jack Purcell – in Margiela’s iconic off-white scheme. Usually, when we see a collaborative effort, we see the products created being experimented in terms of material selection or fabric colouring; but in the case of this collaboration, we see an interesting take on the design process.
The wear-in process of the sneakers will be the main factor of interpreting the shoe’s own identity; the exterior will chip and fade according to the wearer’s lifestyle, while the premium leather lining the interior will wear according to the wearer’s walking patterns, thus concluding in an individual persona for each pair. How very poetic no? The shoes have a retail price of approximately SGD256.
