Givenchy’s latest monochromatic exercise in their Fall/Winter 2013 campaign shows that you don’t need any glitz or glam to stylize a collection. Photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, the images feature people whom creative director Riccardo Tisci considers family. “These people are my family. They have always believed in me. They are very faithful to me… I think it is a moment of history for me in fashion for my own gang.” With a diverse cast ranging from Hollywood starlet Amanda Seyfriend, fashion stylist Carine Roitfeld and daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Spanish actor Quim Gutiérrez and models Mariano Ontañon and Dalianah Arekion, Tisci’s gang is an absolute network of who’s-who in their own respective trade.
Citing a “gypsy feeling” to the overall mood of the campaign, Tisci echoed the direct inspiration behind his collection because his protagonists “are real gypsies in their own lives. They are never in one place. They travel the world.” Only in our fantasies would gypsies dress as impeccably as this.
