Campaign Circuit A Melancholic Mood With Valentino 1. British photographer Craig McDean was tapped by Valentino’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli to lens the brand’s Fall/Winter 2013 menswear campaign, and the result was a series of dark melancholic images that plunges you into the often darker side of the season. Fronted by runway veteran Nicholas Ripoll (who’s resumé includes Sisley and Bottega Veneta), the pictures depict “[Ripoll] as a Roman actor immersed in an Antonioni atmosphere inside a classical French Environment,” Chiuri said. Sure enough, having the campaign shot at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild in Paris but further extrapolates the overall mood of the campaign.
