I’m going to start off by saying that this Junya Watanabe collection was by far my favorite collection from the upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 season. Everything just had such a natural ease to it; Watanabe placed a big emphasis on outwear this season, explaining that he “wanted to convey resort in a cool way.”
Seeing the collection itself as a whole, you’re brought back to images of old-American hiking and fishing trips that you’ve watched on television, perhaps a similar (if not the same), ode that Louis Vuitton had done just days prior. With his signature inside-out patchwork done in a majority of his outwear, Watanabe has definitely found the “cool” in the components of his collection.
Though ranging predominantly in natural hues of brown and grey, he’s managed to uplift the collection further with his addition of selected (and highly covetable) primary colored jackets that would fit well in any sartorialist’s camping wardrobe. The colors had such intense hues that just brought an instant smile on my face as I looked through the collection, bet they did to you as well no?
And also, particular standouts for us where the range of blue outwear Watanabe presented near the end of his collection; such simple and effortless jackets that could soften any outfit and just make the best of impression on people; seriously, how can anyone oppose these shades of blues?
