In what could be Men’s Folio’s theme song, Justin Timberlake’s finally dropped a new single for 2013: and it’s an ode to formal eveningwear, believe it or not. “Suit & Tie” showcases a whole lot of sassy horns, a slow-burning R&B shuffle, a blustering interlude by rap royalty Jay-Z and the former boyband member’s smooth-as-cognac falsetto. In other words, this is business as usual…and we love it.
Throw in some designer name-dropping—JT brags about his “designer duds all pressed up in black and white”, while Jay-Z cranks out a line on wearing “Tom Ford tuxedos for no reason/ All Saints for my angel”—and we’re completely sold.
With Justin Timberlake back in the game and new releases by Pearl Jam, The Strokes, Beyonce and Lady Gaga looming in the horizon, 2013 bodes well for music buffs of all persuasions. Judge for yourself and take a listen to the lead-in to the 31-year-old’s upcoming album “The 20/20 Experience”…just don’t be annoyed if you catch yourself humming this ditty in the elevator tomorrow!
