Cut It Fine: Tang Xiaotian in Calvin Klein Collection

  • By Men's Folio

Gird yourselves, guys: winter is coming. Chinese up-and-comer Tang Xiaotian shows you how in this severe, painfully chic coat by Calvin Klein Collection. Seen here at a star-studded soiree in Beijing’s too-cool-for-school 798 Art District, the lean model was one of many Asian clotheshorses—Qin Shu Pei, Wang Xiao and Du Juan—at the cocktail, held in honor of the American house’s women’s creative director, Francisco Costa.

Xiaotian’s form-fitting double-breasted black jacket is clearly not for the well, short and stumpy: the six-on-two button configuration, not to mention its unforgiving cut, means this “black label” runway piece is strictly for the genetically blessed (Xiaotian, for the record, stands at an impressive six feet, two and a half inches). However, if you are partial to the smart military sensibilities of a double-breasted, opt for a user-friendly four-button specimen, which will be more flattering for those of us with slightly shorter torsos. And follow Xiaotian’s lead: always keep your double-breasted buttoned!
