Nan Fulong & Hao Yunxiang: Soldier Sprites for Dior Homme

  • By Men's Folio

Haunting a bleak birch hinterland for Dior Homme’s Fall ’12 campaign are the silent silhouettes of style soldiers Nan Fulong and Hao Yunxiang. Lensed by Karl Lagerfeld himself, the two Chinese models (Hao is at right, in the double-breasted coat) look like otherworldly officers at the vanguard of Kris Van Assche’s severely suited army. For longtime observers of the Belgian designer, this line-up of military-inflected raiment is a refreshingly masculine departure from the softer draping seen in Van Assche’s seasons of yore.

Sharply cut and coolly sleek, the olive-and-black colorway is beautiful in its unrelenting minimalism: peruse the runway presentation for the rest of Dior Homme’s remarkably refined oeuvre for Fall (the outerwear and accessories are outstanding, especially the helmet-like caps, unusual four-button blazers and fitted trenches).
