Lad in Red: Baptiste Radufe Flashes Fall Colors

  • By Men's Folio

The French fashion darling shows us how to do color for Fall, swathed in sumptuous Tsar-like raiment from a collection Miucca Prada famously called “a parody of male power”. Lensed by Jacob Sutton for Bergdorf Goodman‘s latest campaign, Baptiste’s coat is a bona fide star—quite literally so, given that it was sent down the Milan runway on the lean shoulders of Adrien Brody himself—with its bi-colored shearling collar and oxblood jacquard jazzed up with a pert green pin made to look like a military medal…or Boy Scout badge. Worn over a white-tie dress shirt which on closer inspection reveals itself to be a mock turtleneck, the playful irony of Prada’s Fall 2012 collection is intellectual showboating at its finest. And those statement shoes! This season’s standout, the exaggerated silhouette and rubber “condom” covers on the shoes’ upper lend a very youthful, very Prada feel to the ensemble…and can be read as a sly dig on men’s obsession with well, shoe size. We adore the juxtaposition between Baptiste’s boyish beauty and the Old World opulence of his outfit, so this whole look is a win in our books. Who knew suiting up like a stuffy high-ranking official of the Imperial Russian Army could be so much fun?
