#MFMF110: Fashion Designer and Creative Josiah Chua’s Pluto-Parfait Playlist

  • By Men's Folio

Well, folks, we’re finally back after a seasonal hiatus. Instead of featuring just the Men’s Folio team’s weekly playlists (you can catch up here), however, we’ve opened up the column to friends, industry mates, and people who we think have the right groove.

Here, fashion designer and creative Josiah Chua’s Pluto-Parfait Playlist.

LI YILEI — WEI / 未
This track samples the sound of nature which I find quite transporting especially when you allow yourself to construct your imagination along with the narrative of the track. The various other tracks in the artiste’s album (之 / OF) seem like pockets of sound chapters when you collectively listen through one after another.  It feels like a story unfolding itself.

Sakanaction サカナクション — 新宝島
A Japanese friend introduced me to this band years back and I’ve been a fan since. I really dig the mix of instrumentals and dramatic sounds: an explosive blend of traditional tunes and theatrical vocals.

Todd Terje —  Inspector Norse
This is exactly the sounds that is in my brain right now. It’s a blend of funk, some whimsical tunes and a whole lot of feel-good groove. I just put this tune on, close my eyes and float into the groove. It’s exceptionally perfect for rainy days.

Wanton Witch – Lament Ceremony
A recommendation by a close pal whom I receive my occasional dosage of dark beats from. The works from Wanton Witch are spiritual and otherworldly.
